Sempervivum of the month: April 2019 - and Rain Dance

Posted by Rebecca Scott on

Our choice for "sempervivum of the month" April 2019 is 'Densum'. This is one of our best selling sempervivums and is always excellent value for money. We usually include it in the "Ten of our choice" selection because it looks great, quickly forms a nice clump, and is super-reliable.

We've recently added two superb modern varieties: 'Popocatepetl' - named after the active volcano in Mexico, so think "erupting lava" for a clue as to the colours you can expect - and 'Tesoro', which translates from Spanish as "Treasure".

The drought at Komsberg Wilderness Nature Reserve unfortunately continued throughout 2018 and into 2019, dominating a lot of the work during our last two trips. Just before returning to the UK in early March, we made our seventh (and even shorter) drone film: Rain Dance.

You can meet Vicky (aka "Goddess of Precipitation") in early June at The South of England Show as she'll be just back from Komsberg by then and helping me at our display and sales table in the floral marquee.
